The Cats of Mirikitani

Please join us on Saturday, April 6th for the screening of the movie, The Cats of Mirikitani. This documentary tells the story of Jimmy Mirikitani who survived the trauma of the WWII internment camps, Hiroshima and homelessness by creating art. When 9/11 threatens his life on the New York City streets, a local filmmaker brings him to her home. The two embark on a journey to confront Jimmy’s painful past.

The movie is an intimate exploration of the lingering wounds of war and the healing power of community and art.

The event is from 1:00-3:00pm at the Monterey JACL Hall, 424 Adams Street. Free parking is available in the adjacent lot to the JACL Hall and 2 hour limited parking on the street.

The event is free but donations are gratefully accepted.
